NEDDY FOR THE NEEDY INITIATIVE: INSPIRING LIFE BEYOND FOOTBALL.

Harambee starlets and Ulinzi starlets former Captain Neddy Atieno Okoth is focused on an initiative to support needy children in the society get affordable education.

Dubbed "Neddy for the Needy Initiative",was started in 2018 with a focus on helping the less privileged through education empowerment.

Currently,Neddy is supporting over five kids all in junior school.

"I was inspired to start this initiative because personally,I am a testament of kindness. Majorly in my life,my destiny has been shaped by strangers who came along way and held my hand without requiring any support. That is why deep down in my heart I understand what it means to shine a light on someone",Atieno noted.

The prolific and renowned striker for her record breaking 5goals it during the 2021 Women's Africa Cup of Nations at Nyayo National Stadium also reveals that as part of their bonding programs with the community,they hold come-together celebrations in different towns with street children.

"We usually do street visits with other children where we cook food with them,play games,read books,talks and other interactive sessions that bond us as a family beyond borders",added Atieno who was part of the Kenyan side that made history by qualifying for the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations(AWCON).

As former captain for Harambee starlets and Ulinzi starlets,Atieno's glamorous career in football dates back to 2012 when she was tasked with wearing the Armband for Tartar Girls team and Kenya's U-20 team,captaining the latter to the brink of qualifying for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and winning the 2012 KSSSA national games.

In 2021,she joined the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) Caretaker Committee to head matters Women's football in Kenya after being appointed by the then Cabinet Secretary for sports.
